Global crises, geopolitical power shifts and the rise of authoritarian forces are changing the political and social landscape in Europe and beyond.

The historic election result of the FPÖ reflects these trends, with possible implications for international development, humanitarian aid and global citizenship education

These changes include budgetary pressures that directly affect people in countries of the Global South and in war and crisis zones, the reinterpretation of international solidarity in terms of national security interests, and the possible restriction of civil society’s scope for action (shrinking space).

In addition, the important debate on localisation and the increasing violations of international humanitarian law are growing challenges for our sector.

Our member event offers the opportunity to reflect on these developments and challenges at international and national level, to learn from each other, to develop strategies together in an increasingly difficult environment and to strengthen our networks and our voice.

The aim of the event is to promote solidarity and the ability to act in our sector through networking, exchange and content-related impulses, while at the same time providing inspiration and practical impulses for joint work – because: Aid Matters!
