The climate and environmental crisis is a child-rights crisis. It not only constitutes a great threat to children’s future, but also a threat to their right to live their life to their fullest. While children are among the most vulnerable to the consequences of climate change, they are also powerful agents of change. Globally, children and young people make significant contributions towards environmental sustainability and climate justice. To do so they need access to adequate environmental information and education, the resources to take action as well as the opportunity to develop adaptive life skills for their immediate future.

Faith Nimineh and Keeva Duffey will be sharing their insights on how development and humanitarian NGOs can respond to the climate crisis by supporting children and young people. Faith Nimineh is Senior Advisor Humanitarian Affairs at the ChildFund Alliance with more than 20 years of experience in the non-profit sector. Keeva Duffey is ChildFund International’s climate advisor with over 9 years of experience in public health with a special focus on climate change.The ChildFund Alliance has recently published a report on the engagement of its members in climate and environmental action.

A Climate Quickie is a basic 60 minutes online session comprising an expert input, Questions & Answers, peer-exchange and debate. The individual sessions are intended to give interested staff in the member organizations of GLOBAL RESPONSIBILITY – Austrian Platform for development and humanitarian aid a rough overview of the respective topic. The sessions can be attended independently of each other.
