The One Health approach addresses issues such as zoonoses – infectious diseases that can be transmitted between animals and humans – as well as challenges in food safety, water and sanitation, and antimicrobial resistance. It is a collaborative, multi-sectoral and transdisciplinary approach that addresses local, regional, national and global levels.

For example, Veterinarians Without Borders e.V. supports a One Health project in Northern Kenya, where local partner organisations are working to improve veterinary services and the regular treatment of livestock, which is crucial for the health of the people around them. At the same time, they provide medical care for pastoralists and help mitigate the effects of drought through more reliable weather forecasting.

A „Humanitarian Quickie“ is a basic 60 minutes online session comprising an experts input, Questions and Answers, peer-exchange and debate. The individual sessions are intended to give interested staff in the member organisations of GLOBAL RESPONSIBILITY – Austrian Platform for development and humanitarian aid and their partner organisations a rough overview of the respective topic. They can be attended independently of each other.
